Stimulus Plan Should Include Promises already made for Tax Relief for Families and Heritage Foundation's state analysis proves it.
So congress should lower taxes and reduce spending? Sounds familiar. During the political campaigns of the past year or so the winners of the respective primary races had two common themes. A thousand promises were made but two of the candidates made sure that on every occassion possible they drove two points home and home hard. Clean up spending through reducing earmarks and uneccessary programs AND cutting taxes. McCain committed to making the Bush tax cuts permanent and Obama stated repeatedly his determination to provide a tax cut for 95% of Americans. Yes there was the neverending debate over where Obama's cuts would stop (or start depending on your income level) but the debate always assured Americans that the tax cuts would occur. Yes McCain was more direct and assured us that regardless of conditions we can cut taxes and reduce spending while Obama's spending reduction were targeted to afford his broader agenda both gentlemen stayed focused on these two committments to voters.....reduce spending (if not across the board certainly broadly) and reduce taxes for most if not all wage earners in the country. The two candidates that promised the spending and tax cuts were the winners. Now that the time is come to put words into action it will be interesting to see how the campaign promises get put into action. While governors from across the country (R & D alike) have been funneling into the District to push for block grants it would appear that we have to make a decision on the stimulus package--is this about money for government or do we mean what we say when we call this a jobs stimulus package. Read the Heritage Foundations latest white paper on the subject and it would suggest that if this is about jobs we only have one choice......do what was promised. Cut spending and reduce taxes. Thanks again Heritage...good work. Stimulus Plan Should Include Pro-Growth Tax Relief for Families in Every State
